Heavy Rains in Trikala

We have had light to heavy rain the last 5 days here in Trikala in addition to the rain and snow over the past month.  Last night there was a spectacular storm with thunder and lightning. Today the Litheon River, which runs through the centre of the city, is very swollen. Fortunately, through the city there are quite steep banks to the river, but the water level is up to the bottom of many of the bridges and there is flooding in some of the flatter areas. This was written last Friday. It rained heavily and nonstop for 8+ days, driving us to the point of nuttiness. It's now Wednesday and back to beautiful blue skies and warm temperatures. Hopefully that's both winter AND the wet spring behind us!
